Query Airtable bases in natural language, add records from chat, and get daily reports on WhatsApp

What is Airtable?

Airtable is the spreadsheet-database hybrid that powers operations for over 450,000 organizations. The LunoGen Airtable integration connects your AI agent to the Airtable REST API and Webhooks API so it can read and write records across any base, resolve linked records, compute rollups, handle field types properly, and react to automation triggers — bridged to WhatsApp for everyday work.

Why connect Airtable?

Airtable is the easiest way for non-engineers to build an internal tool, but every operations team runs into the same problem: updating Airtable on mobile is painful, querying it from a meeting is slow, and exporting a view to send to a vendor is four clicks too many. An AI agent makes Airtable conversational: 'add a new vendor with these details', 'show me this week's inspections that failed', 'send me a CSV of all April invoices'. Ops teams keep Airtable as the source of truth and WhatsApp as the remote.

What you can do

  • Add new records to any Airtable base from a chat message
  • Query bases with natural language across filters, sorts, and linked records
  • Daily report from an Airtable view delivered to WhatsApp at a schedule
  • Trigger handling: respond to Airtable Automations via webhook
  • Formula calculations on demand (rollups, concatenations, lookups)
  • CSV export of any view delivered to WhatsApp as a downloadable file
  • Field type awareness: dates, attachments, multi-selects, and linked records
  • Bulk updates from a plain-language instruction across many records
  • Attachment upload from WhatsApp directly into the right record
  • Schema discovery and search across bases and tables

Setup

Requirements

  • An Airtable account with at least one base you want to connect
  • A personal access token with the right scopes
  • A LunoGen account with at least the Pro plan
  1. 1

    Create a personal access token

Go to airtable.com/create/tokens and click Create new token. Add scopes data.records:read, data.records:write, schema.bases:read, and webhook:manage.

  2. 2

    Grant token access to bases

In the same token page, add the workspaces or specific bases you want the agent to access. Copy the token value after creation — it is only shown once.

  3. 3

    Connect in LunoGen

Open LunoGen → Credentials → New → Airtable. Paste the personal access token. LunoGen will list every base and table the token has access to.

  4. 4

    Pick default base and table

Choose a default base and table for new records (for example 'Ops' → 'Inbox'). You can override per message with a short tag like [#CRM].

  5. 5

    Register Airtable webhooks (optional)

For event-driven workflows, use the Airtable Webhooks API to register your LunoGen webhook URL on the tables you care about. Common triggers: record created, record updated, view changed.
